Breckenridge Skiing - There's More To Do Than Just Ski |
||
Typically, Breckenridge skiing begins in earnest around the first part of November and extends until sometime in April, the following year. The beautiful and scenic 150 year old town of Breckenridge lies in the heart of the Rocky Mountains and is one of the most visited resorts in the states. Many international travelers intentionally seek out Breckenridge skiing due to it's high and positive profile, . In fact, the BBC recently ranked Breckenridge as one of the top five ski locations in the world. You'll also find that over the years, Breckenridge has been consistently lavished with praise by many of the top ski magazines. Breckenridge skiing offers lots of options. With over 27 ski lifts and a vertical rise of more than 3,000 feet, covering more than 2,200 acres and nearly 150 ski trails of al levels of difficulty spanning 4 intertwined mountains - you won't find yourself getting bored on the slopes. And although you'll find many intermediate runs, the ski slopes aren't as deep or challenging as you'll find in some of the other ski resorts. This is not necessarily a drawback, however, as this makes it the near perfect place to learn and perfect your ski and snowboarding skills. If you're into snowboarding as well as skiing, Breckenridge, with 4 snowboarding parks dedicated to snowboarders, boasts one of the best snowboarding areas in the Rockies. If you have young kids, they'll enjoy the beginner skiing program at Kids Castle , where you can drop them off while you trek off to the ski slopes. Kids Castle also has waterslides and climbing walls as part of their indoor recreational center. You'll find Freeride bus stations scattered around the town to take you, not only to Breckenridge but also to Copper Mountain, Keystone, Arapahoe Basin, and Frisco. But you'll have plenty to do off of the mountain as well. There are over 160 small shops scattered around the town in which to spend your money. Also, with over 80 local restaurants to choose from, you'll find it easy choosing one that satisfies your taste buds - even though you'll probably find it a bit pricey. And, although, with all of the magnificent skiing, you won't be spending much time sight seeing, the area does have a number of galleries and museums to occupy you on the days and times when you're not on the slopes. The family friendly town of Breckenridge has often been described as Victorian. In fact, it is home to a historic Victorian district, the largest historical district in Colorado, and one which tourists and lovers of Victorian architecture will greatly enjoy walking through. As you venture into the town at night, you'll find a great variety of pubs, taverns, and places to casually relax and unwind after a day on the slopes. With the town being so popular, you should have no problem find breckenridge ski packages that give you great deals at one of the many breckenridge ski condos. Because the town of Breckenridge is situated relatively close to Denver, Colorado, you will occasionally encounter crowds, especially on the weekends. However, once you get on the mountains and away from the main ski lifts, you'll find Breckenridge skiing even more enjoyable. The crowds will gradually thin - providing you with plenty of room and privacy to enjoy the slopes.
